The Changelog - January 2026

January in a nutshell: Automated Scaffold syncing, scheduled social posts, and small, deliberate steps toward sustainable growth.

Product Feature - Scaffold Asset Management

I've now got 4 projects (2 live and 2 in progress) up and running using variants of Scaffold, but maintaining these hasn't been easy. Trying to keep these all in sync has typically meant copying the changes back and forth between each project, but there's always a small bit that has been missed and trips me up as I try to bring each project in line.

January saw the introduction of the Scaffold Asset Manager and the asset manifest - this is my attempt to automate keeping a project in sync with a scripted list of files to copy and check when the scaffold core has been updated.

The bundles/Scaffold/CoreBundle is still manually copied between projects, but at least now it's a scripted method to ensure everything is in sync.

Long term, I do intend to make the switch from a local filesystem repo to a proper composer package installed via https://packagist.org, so I can avoid the local copying and instead do

composer require scaffold/core-bundle
# OR
composer update scaffold/core-bundle

and hopefully, spin up a new, clean Symfony project with

symfony new thenextbigthing
cd thenextbigthing
composer require scaffold/core-bundle
./bin/composer scaffold:init

Marketing – Buffer, Bluesky & X

In January, I restarted using Buffer to bring some structure back to posting. I’m focusing initially on Bluesky and X — but instead of publishing thoughts immediately, I’m now banking and scheduling them.

Previously, my social media presence was scattershot: a flurry of posts and replies over a day or two… then silence for weeks. Scheduling should help smooth that out. More consistent. More deliberate.

That said, this isn’t fire-and-forget. I’ve got the apps installed and notifications on, so I can reply and engage when people respond.

If you’d like to follow along as I build in public, you can find me on Bluesky or X.

Blog post

My January blog post was my New Year's Resolution for 2026 post, where I'm discussing analysis paralysis and imposter syndrome and giving myself a goal of achieving £1,000 MMR by the end of 2026.

If any of my posts resonates with you, I'd love for you to reach out and say Hi - you can find me on Bluesky or X.
